Crochet Color Forecast of 2026

As we enter 2026 with strong hearts, I think a lot of people are going to be looking for more grounding and stability in the coming year. I’ve gone through a bunch of trends and predictive reports and focused them down to these 6 color ranges to inspire all your upcoming crochet projects.

Where do I get the trends? I use a combination of lifestyle & interior design trends, fashion forecasting, home decor/paint color predictions, and my own yarn color palette popularity. As well as the yearly Pantone color predictions. I have been making Yarn Color Palettes for about 5 years now, and making regular color palettes in general for over 15 years.

Notable color trend setters are Benjamin Moore, Sherwin-Williams, Behr, Valspar, Dutch Boy Paints, New York (NYFW) and London Fashion Week (LFW) color trend reports, as well as the Pantone Fashion Color trend report(s).  I also check Etsy pattern/product popularity, and use Ravelry for pattern trends.

Smaller Functional Pieces
Oversized Wear
Appliques for Upcycling

What type of trends? I’ve mainly focused on 2026 color trends for both warm and cool tones, and Crochet pattern trends that we might see in the upcoming new year.

I expect to see sun baked hues, moody hues, frosted pastels and vibrant accents this year. I think the colors are all trending more towards a stronger sharper dynamic over all, heavily mimicking 60s retro opulence and 00s thrifty minimalistic aesthetics.

grey— the color of grounding

Let’s start out with a classic neutral grey. Falling between white and black, grey often creates a very grounding and dependable impact, as it’s widely noted for its neutrality between the light and dark. Whether you want to add stabilization or sophistication, grey can accommodate any color niche you wish to fill and is coming back in a big way this year. You can pair grey with blues, teals or other shades of grey for steadiness and stabilization. Or try mixing grey with warm color palettes for a more mature neutral elegance.

I expect crocheters might feel the pull for more sophisticated pieces such as Crochet Wall Art or Crochet statement pieces as well.

pastel blue— the color of peace

Pastel blue is a light shade of blue that is similar to powder blue but with a cooler undertone creating a dirty hue. When you think of blue, you might jump to the experience of sadness, but it also can lead to trust, peace and relaxation. This calming shade needs to support strong colors such as browns, saffron, midnight teal and can be as impactful as a silver would be.

I also highly suspect Crochet Appliques will also be playing a strong supporting role this year, as the upcycling revolution is beginning!

midnight teal— the color of trust

Midnight Teal is a richer teal shade leaning into its green roots. Dark Teal is heavily favored to be “the” color of 2026 and I had to include a beautiful Teal representation. This Midnight Teal is a strong, bold deep teal that promotes concentration and confidence, not only in the lifestyle & interior design trends, but with fashion as well.

Crochet Outer Wear is getting bigger, baggier and longer! I expect to see dusters, long cardigans, and oversized sweaters blowing up soon.

saffron— the color of inspiration

A slightly golden yellow with delicate orange hues, Saffron is meant to invoke feelings of 60s resort wear or 60s retro opulence and is one of my favorite colors this year. With this dirty yellow’s mutability, you can lean into the feelings of creativity, optimism and encouragement. It also pairs well with a wide variety of colors, making it a staple for asymmetric color projects.

We might see a bigger demand for Delicate Crochet clothing items such as longer dresses or shawls in thinner yarn weights. I also think we may see more asymmetric colored projects as well.

tea rose— the color of nurturing

Tea rose is a light pastel shade of pinkish red with a magenta undertone. Pastels are in this year and it’s good to see their return to glory! Tea rose is so versatile it can easily stand as a main color or accent color, invoking feelings of love, compassion and innocence. These nurturing qualities are echoed in other colors and will pair well with Teal, Saffron and Deep Coffee.

I also highly suspect smaller functional Crochet pieces will be popping up a lot, like clutch bags, crop tops, or sleeveless sweater tops in the year of 2026. Think 00s or Y2K.

deep coffee— the color of stability

Deep Coffee is a medium dark shade brown with a pinkish red tone. As a throwback to last year, this prediction palette had to include a rich brown shade, and what better than this absolute beautiful soothing Deep Coffee. It promotes security, comfort, and relaxation while pulling in the strength from those deep brown roots. I would easily pair this shade with any other warm color like Saffron, or Rose, and I expect to see a lot of similar shades continued throughout the year.

I expect to see more Detailed Crochet decor items such stunning lace tablecloths, or detailed solid color table runners.
