Traditional Holiday Garlands  |  Free Crochet Patterns

Hello and welcome!  Every year I have some small yarn buster projects that I like to make, and holiday garlands are on that list. Holiday Garlands are some of the most simple elegant ways you can brighten up your tree, mantle or window sill. I happen to have nice bay window sills in my home and my kids and I love to decorate them each season!

I am really happy to introduce my newest set of four free crochet patterns, the Traditional Holiday Garland Pattern Bundle. This holiday themed garland bundle includes three separate easy crochet garlands to brighten up your home this upcoming holiday season.  The patterns can also be completed in any texture of yarn as well. So enjoy!

Popcorn Garland Pattern

Crochet Pattern Instructions
(US Crochet terms)

In white, cream, or light color yarn, I used some scrap Caron One Pound or Caron Simply Soft Solid Yarn in off white.

Ch 10, slst to join in the first chain. Ch 10, Turn.

{ Bobble Stitch (dc4tog)  in the top bar of the st closest to the hook,  slst into the bottom bar of the same stitch. (1 bobble st)  One pop completed!

Bobble Stitch (dc4tog) in the top bar, slst in the bottom bar of the next 2 sts. (3 bobble sts) This will create three bobbles in a row.  Slst back through the bottom bar of the first bobble st to close the loop of 3 bobbles. (3 bobble st cluster)

Bobble Stitch (dc4tog) in the top bar of the next st, slst in the bottom bar of the next 2 sts. (5 bobble sts)  This will create 5 Bobbles. Slst back through the bottom bar of the third bobble stitch to close and secure the popcorn puff. (5 bobble st cluster)
Rotate Hook  }*

Repeat:
*Ch 20, 5 dc4tog cluster*
Repeat till the desired length is reached, ending on a dc4tog.

Ch 15,  slst to join in the 10th chain from the hook. Cut and tie off when the desired length is reached.

This has created a popcorn followed by a space equaling about 4” with a 4mm hook and 4ply yarn.

You simply repeat as many times as you need to achieve your desired length.
(Example: 9 popcorn + 4-inch sections = 36” string)

You can also increase the distance between popcorn by increasing the chains between them or add 16mm wooden beads in between clusters for a unique look.

Fir Garland Pattern

Crochet Pattern Instructions
(US Crochet terms)

In any Finger Knitting green yarn, I used Evergreen Loops Yarn at the time of pictures. Unfortunately, I am not able to find this specific brand now, however I’ve found some alternatives. Any yarn used for finger knitting in green should work. Such as Loop Yarn Finger Yarn (Christmas)

Simply Chain 40  with the desired yarn in an 11mm or 12mm hook.

Cut and tie off when the desired length is reached.
